Promoting advantages for economic development to improve people's income

On February 23, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) Le Van Huong chairs the workshop on "Solutions to implement the income criteria and environmental protection in the direction of building new rural".

This workshop was performed by the Steering Committee of the national target program on building new rural and Tien Giang provincial Union of Science and Technology Association.

Chairman of Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee Le Van Huong stressed: The goal of building new rural is raising material life and spirit of people. The stable life of people and secure environment with social justice are the core of sustainable development.

From there, he requested that on the basis of comments, speeches of scientists and delegates, departments, districts, cities and towns and communes needed to find and promote social comparative advantages of each province, each region to develop economy and to improve people's life, planning and completing specific criteria of new rural. Province received these above comments above to apply o direction of building new rural in the near future.

At the workshop, presentations as well as opinions of scientists from Ho Chi Minh city University of Agriculture and Forestry, Can Tho University and relevant leaders of departments agreed that criteria for income and environment are two “soft” criteria to complete difficultly.

According to these delegates, the largest challenge in agricultural production are the status of fragmented production so it is very difficult to raise added value, reducing the cost of agricultural production and environmental protection. Thereby, scientists have proposed many solutions to the province to raise income and protect the environment in building new rural.
