To promptly implement the project of development specialized dragon fruit production area project to 2020 and the following years, Cho Gao district makes plan to 2020 including 6,500 to 7,000 hectares of dragon fruit production concentrated on 12 communes on project of which 30 to 40 percent of the area is produced according to GAP standard.

Until now, the district has 4,693 hectares of dragon fruit. To implement the project according to the defined route, Cho Gao district Party Committee and the district People's Committee directed communes and town to review the number of new planted areas in each locality on the project of development dragon fruit. Besides expanding the area under new technical standard, the district has planed to invest in infrastructure with 50 traffic works, the medium-voltage power line, the three-phase power line and the relatively completed irrigation system to meet the water requirement for dragon fruit and other crop in the area project.

District has 2 enterprises, 44 establishments, 1 cooperative and 4 cooperatition groups basically purchased all products for farmers. At the same time, the district has promoted "Cho Gao dragon fruit" brand name to seek market as well as to promote trade to solve the output of product, to focus on investing in agriculture extension, vocational training, scientific and technical transfer, epidemic disease management and treatment in order to raise productivity and quality, to raise competitiveness to meet the export requirement. On the other hand, in recent years, income from dragon fruit has been higher than rice’s income with 6 to 8 times so that farmers have bravely invested in planting dragon fruit.
