Developing the potential of aquaculture

According to the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Go Cong Dong district, in the first crop of 2017, farmers bred 274 aquiculture hectares with nearly 128 million of breeding stock which were mainly shrimp.

The district also brought more than 2,000 hectares of Tan Thanh coastal water surface to breeding clam, contributing to job creation and income increasing for people in the coastal area of Go Cong.

For the exploitation marine industry, Go Cong Dong district has a quite strong fishing team, concentrated in Tan Dien, Tan Thanh, Kieng Phuoc, Tan Phuoc, communes, Vam Lang town, etc ..., mainly exploited in the sheer off fishing grounds. Vam Lang town located at the mouth of the Soai Rap river is rising up to become one of many important fishery logistics centers of Tien Giang province. There are Vam Lang fishing port, sheltered anchorage, boat shelter for fishing boats, etc…

Since the beginning of the year, the district has harvested 9,800 tons of clam meat, exploiting 22,600 tons of seafood of all kinds, contributing to satisfy the domestic market and export processing.

In the first months of 2017, farmers in Go Cong Dong district planted 7,700 ha of food coloring, increasing by 1,700 ha over the same period last year, of which 215 ha were rotational on the field. They have harvested over 109,000 tons of vegetables of all kinds, reaching over 76% of the plan and more than 10,000 tons over the same period last year.
