Indian Ambassador visits Southern Fruit Institute

On July 12, Indian Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish and Consul General in Ho Chi Minh city Smita Pant visited and worked at the Southern Fruit Institute.

Dr. Tran Thi Oanh Yen, Vice Director of the Southern Fruit Institute, introduced to the Ambassador of India and members of the delegation the functions and duties as well as the research and breeding of the unit over time. At the same time, the Institute also outlined some directions in breeding, transferring technology, improving the quality of seedlings for farmers in the coming time.

According to Yen, over the past 20 years, the Government of India has provided scholarships to the Southern Fruit Institute including 14 PhDs, 35 masters and assisting the institute in bringing cadres to India for short-term learning.

After the working session, the Ambassador paid a visit to the hi-tech plantation and dragon fruit cultivation on the truss, the drip irrigation technology of the Southern Fruit Institute.
