Long Khanh recognized as the new rural commune

On December 27, Long Khanh commune has just been proclaimed the new rural commune by Cai Lay town People’s Committee and The Provincial Standing Steering Committee for National Targeted Program to build new rural areas. This is the second commune of Cai Lay town reached the new rural commune.

Throughout the implementation of the National targeted program for rural development, Long Khanh commune achieved 19/19 criteria in accordance with the National standard criteria of rural development indicators. Accordingly, the cultural, material and spiritual life of the people is raised. The rural infrastructure is innovated, the production is developed. The average income per person is 21.54% higher than the rural standard, reached nearly VND45 million/person/year. The rate of multidimensional poor households in 2017 is 2.37%.

The total cost of Long Khanh commune mobilized to build new rural areas is over VND 453.58 billion including more than VND267.51 billion contributed by people in commune and VND, accounted for over 58.98%.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Duc acknowledged the determination and efforts of the Party, authority and people of Long Khanh commune to build new rural commune. He suggested that Long Khanh commune needs to review and continue to improving the criteria. Provincial departments and agencies increase the support to Long Khanh commune as well as other commune to meet the standards of the new rural commune.
