The first batch of Vietnamese star apple fruit exported to the US market

On December 26, at Cat Tuong Agricultural Products Processing Company Limited, in Dao Thanh commune, My Tho city, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee held the announcement ceremony of exporting the first batch of Vietnamese star apple fruit to the US market.

In order to export fruit to the US market, farmers have to strictly apply advanced cultivation techniques, food hygiene and safety requirements such as registration of production certificates under Global GAP or Vietnamese GAP, fruit packing, etc... Particularly, purchasing enterprises must have pre-processing houses, packing and post-harvest preservation procedures to meet the requirements of food hygiene and safety, etc...

The first Vietnamese star apple fruit exported to the US market has about 43 hectares located in Huu Dao commune, Long Hung commune, Ban Long commune of Chau Thanh district, My Long commune of Cai Lay district, Tien Giang province, etc… The whole harvested yield of the pilot star apple gardens was purchased and processed by Cat Tuong agricultural products processing company. After that, it was properly packaged and transferred to Ho Chi Minh City before irradiation to the US market.

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam noted the efforts of ministries, sectors, Tien Giang province and enterprises in step by step removing technical barriers to let Vietnam become the first country allowed to export star-apple fruit to the United States untile now. At the same time, he also emphasized the continued investment and expansion of production processes to ensure GlobalGAP, control of diseases to let Vietnamese star apple fruit export throughout the continent in the coming time.
