ABO - On June 22, the Steering Committee for the implementation of the national target programs of the Tien Giang province organized a meeting to evaluate the situation and results of implementation of the national target program on building new rural areas in the first 6 months.

According to reports, up to now, 40/144 communes have reached new rural standards (accounting for 27.78%). The average number of new rural criteria achieved in the province was 13.15 criteria/commune. Accordingly, there were 17 communes with 19/19 criteria (11.8%), 25 communes with 15-18 criteria (17.4%), 87 communes with 10-14 criteria (60.4% ) and 15 communes with 5-9 criteria (10.4%).

Of these, 17 out of 40 new rural communes met 19 criteria and 23 communes met 15-18 criteria. In the new registered rural areas in 2018, there were 2 communes with 15 criteria, 7 communes with 14 criteria, 5 communes with 13 criteria and 11 communes with 12 criteria.

According to the evaluation, the direction and organization of implementing the consolidation and upgrading of criteria and criteria for new rural areas in communes met the new rural standards in the past time was regularly checked and directed by the People's Committees of districts, towns and city. However, there were not clearly changed for the criteria and norms which must be strengthened and upgraded to meet the new regulations in many localities.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong said that: In order to build new and successful rural areas, it is necessary to firstly build new rural people. Communes need to have the staff to meets the 18th criteria about the political system and access to Laws and in 2018. If the commune does not meet the 18th criteria, the recognition of new rural areas until 2019 will be delayed
