To promptly deploy the project of upgrading Cho Gao canal in phase 2

ABO - On the morning of March 15, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and representatives of some ministries and central branches had a meeting with the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee after inspecting Cho Gao canal.

Deputy Secretary of the Tien Giang provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Huong; Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan and representatives of some sectors of the province received and worked with the delegation.

The project of upgrading the Cho Gao canal in phase 2, which has been slow to be approved in 2016, affected traffic safety,  the circulation of goods by inland waterways of the whole Southwestern region.

Concluding the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung emphasized: The implementation of the project to upgrade Cho Gao canal, phase 2 is urgent and this is the opinion of the Prime Minister. The implementation of the project of upgrading Cho Gao canal in phase 2 not only addresses the situation of landslides affecting people's lives, reducing traffic congestion, but also increasing the ability of goods circulation of the provinces in the Southwestern region, contributing to reducing pressure on other forms of transport.

Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Planning and Investment to urgently supplement necessary documents to report and submit to the Prime Minister for investment approval by funding from the budget source government; the Ministry of Transport reviewed the project items so that it could be implemented as soon as to have capital.

On the local side, the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee should continue to coordinate with ministries and branches to implement the project smoothly; strengthening and mobilizing people to agree, support the policy to speed up the work of land clearance, creating favorable conditions for the project to be implemented in accordance with the proposed schedule.
