ABO - On the five-year preliminary review meeting on the implementation of Tien Giang agricultural restructuring plan to 2020 an the orientation to 2030, on August 21, Vice Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee Pham Anh Tuan said that there have been many encouraging results.
However, the implementation of the plan still has some unsolved problems.

Awarding the Provincial People's Committee’s certificate of merit to excellent collectives.

Therefore, in the coming time, Vice Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee Pham Anh Tuan asked the agricultural sector to assess the organization of implementing the plan to learn from experience and adjustments. At the same time, changing the production thought of farmers from pure agricultural producers to economic.

In addition, the agricultural sector needs to change the mode of production organization, attaching markets to farmers; promoting processing of agricultural products after harvesting; agricultural production applying science and technology, etc...

According to the Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the period of 2013-2018, the situation of agricultural, forestry and fishery production faced many disadvantages in terms of weather, diseases on cattle, price fluctuations, etc... but the agricultural sector still maintains an average growth rate of 3.6%/year.

The average income per capita in rural areas increased by 1.47 times compared to the restructuring of the agricultural sector.

Especially, by the end of July 2016, the whole province had 72 communes meeting new rural standards, reaching 50% of communes in the province.

Besides, the percentage of households using hygienic water at the end of 2018 reached 98.86%.

The intra-industry structure has shifted in the right direction, the proportion of cultivation decreased from 57.07% (in 2015) to 56.49% (in 2018); animal husbandry increased from 16.04% to 16.37%, etc...
However, the restructuring process of the agricultural sector also has many problems. Specifically, the process of restructuring took place slowly, mainly carrying out in the field of cultivation; shifting the structure of spontaneous crops outside the planned area so the risk was very high.

In addition, despite of investment of the infrastructure in agricultural and rural areas, the reality was still weak; the small-scale agricultural processing technology, the linkage production development, consumption were not sustainable, etc...

On this occasion, two collectives (people and officials of Tam Binh commune, Cai Lay district; Tan Tinh A hamlet, Tan My Chanh commune and My Tho city) were presented the certificate of merit from the Prime Minister. The Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to four collectives and twenty-eight individuals.
