Director of HCMC Department of Tourism Bui Ta Hoang Vu said that the advantage of linking HCMC and 13 provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta are different, complementary to each other.

The city's key tourism products are shopping, food, sports, entertainment and urban community culture. Meanwhile, the strength of the Mekong Delta is ecotourism, garden and water.

Therefore, if exploiting the advantages of each destination, the tourism connection of the 14 provinces and cities not only do not reduce the competitive advantage of each destination, but also promote each other's advantages to  help each other expand the market, the customer market more easily.

“The cohesion of HCMC with the Mekong Delta has not really created a regional tourism brand with its own identity and especially not yet formed the tourism product chains connecting the local competitive advantages”, according to Bui Hoang Ta.

At the conference, localities and investors raised difficulties in linking and exploiting tourism potential between the HCMC and provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta; at the same time, proposing solutions to promote tourism development in the coming time.
