Export turnover estimated at 3.05 billion USD

ABO - In 2019, the export turnover of goods in Tien Giang province is estimated at 3.05 billion USD, up 6.3 percent over the same period, according to Tien Giang People’s Committee.

In particular, the foreign invested sector accounts for 74% of the total export turnover. The highest proportion occupied in the structure of export goods was still industrial goods with 80 percent; including items: garments (up 26.6 percent); copper pipe (up 37.7 percent).

The export markets include America (accounting for 38 percent), Asia (accounting for 37.8 percent), Europe (accounting for 19.4 percent), Oceania (accounting for 3.1 percent) and Africa (accounting for 1.7 percent).

Seafood export is the highest export value of agricultural products, mainly pangasius fillets (accounting for 90 percent), the remaining as canned clams, shellfish, squid, etc... The output and export turnover of the province's rice dropped sharply, down 79.9 percent over the same period.

Regarding imports, the import turnover in 2019 was 1.7 billion USD, up 20.8 percent in comparison with 2018, reaching 94.4% of the year plan. Main import items include copper (accounting for 28 percent), textile, leather, shoes, bags materials (accounting for 25 percent); raw fabric (accounting for 15 percent) of the province's total import turnover.

According to the assessments of authorities, in 2019, the export results of 2019 are the efforts of enterprises in production and exports in the context of the slow economic growth of the world economy and the increase of risk and challenge factors.
