Bac Lieu exceeds many economic development targets

ABO/NDO – The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu has made great efforts to reach its set targets, resulting in an increase in economic growth in the first quarter of 2021, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Regarding agricultural production, the province harvested nearly 240,000 tonnes of rice in the first quarter of this year, equivalent to 20.77% of the yearly target and up 0.69% over the same period last year.

The province also posted total aquaculture and fishing output of nearly 63,600 tonnes, equivalent to 15.35% of the yearly target and up 4.13% over the same period last year.
Total retail sales of goods and services reached over VND14.4 trillion, equivalent to 20.67% of the yearly target and up 11.89% over the same period in 2020.
The province also posted total export revenue of over VND163 million, an increase of 8.31% over the same period last year.
In addition, Bac Lieu reported over VND1.3 trillion worth of State revenue in the first quarter, equivalent to 39.81% of the yearly target and up 3.22% over the same period in 2020.
The province is currently focusing on promoting and restructuring the local economy in alignment with anti-COVID-19 prevention measures.
The Mekong Delta province is also striving to become the shrimp farming hub of Vietnam, in order to boost exports to other countries and promote investment in energy projects, particularly those utilising wind power.
