ABO/NDO – Vietnam’s fresh lychees have hit the shelves of supermarkets in Kagoshima Prefecture of Japan for the first time, as part of a “Vietnam’s goods” week in the Kagoshima AEON Mall from June 4 to June 6.
The information along with images of Vietnamese lychees at AEON was shared by Kagoshima governor Koichi Shiota with Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam at their online working session on June 4.

At the working session, the two sides agreed on ways to further enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation, including facilitating the export of Vietnamese goods to Kagoshima and vice versa.
Located in the south of Kyushu island, Kagoshima has an advanced agriculture which ranks fourth in Japan, with strength in animal husbandry and cultivation. The prefecture’s main industries are light industry and processing. The locality wants to recruit more Vietnamese workers for its agricultural and processing sectors.
In another related event, according to Vietnam Trade Office in Japan, over 300 stores and supermarkets of AEON across Japan will hold a week of “Vietnam’s goods” from June 25 to June 27. This is an annual event attracting both the Vietnamese community in Japan as well as locals.
The Vietnamese embassy and the Trade Office are working with AEON Mall Co., Ltd on the promotion of Vietnamese goods during the event, with a focus on lychee and typical farm produce.
