Eight-month FDI disbursement hits five-year high

ABO/NDO- The disbursement of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first eight months of this year is estimated to have reached 12.8 billion USD, up 10.5% over the same period last year and marking the highest level in the past five years.

According to the report on socio-economic development in the first eight months of 2022 released by the General Statistics Office, total FDI registered for investment in Vietnam was posted at nearly 16.78 billion USD as of August 20. The capital includes newly registered capital, supplemented capital and capital contribution, and share purchase by foreign investors.

Regarding Vietnam’s investment abroad, 75 Vietnamese projects have been granted investment certificates with a total contribution of 344.8 million USD, 2.3 times higher than the same period last year.

In addition, 15 projects were approved to raise capital with supplemented capital of 50.9 billion USD. Thus, the total investment capital of Vietnam abroad reached 395.8 million USD during the eight-month period.

The report also stated that the disbursement of public investment from the State budget in the first eight months of this year was estimated at 285.4 trillion VND, equivalent to 51% of the year’s plan and up 16.9% over the same period last year.
