This details were announced at a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on February 23.

The festival will open on Nguyen Hue Walking Street in District on March 3 with a fashion show to highlight the unique traits of the Vietnamese ao dai. The show ‘Charming Vietnamese Ao Dai’ will feature 30 models showing off the latest ao dai collections by designers such as Si Hoang, Thuan Viet and Vo Viet Chung.

Under the theme ‘Ao Dai-I Love Vietnam’, this year’s festival aims to honour and promote traditional cultural values as well as the beauty and grace of the ao dai, which has become a symbol of feminine beauty in Vietnam.

The event will include an exhibition on ao dai at the Ao Dai Museum and two open-air music and song programmes featuring pop stars and young singers. A contest on designing ao dai for the workplace as well as ceremonies and festivals will also be organised by the city’s Youth Cultural House.

Dozens of photography exhibitions on women in ao dai will be held at universities and cultural centres around the city.
