Ceremony honours outstanding athletes and coaches of 2016

A programme entitled 'Glory Vietnam’s Sports' was organised in Hanoi on March 27 to honour outstanding athletes and coaches of 2016.

The event is held annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Administration of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Sports Newspaper.

The winners include ten national athletes and five coaches as well as five athletes and three coaches with disabilities.

The ten national athletes were marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh, swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, tennis player Ly Hoang Nam, Olympian fencer Vu Thanh An, gymnasts Pham Phuoc Hung and Phan Thi Ha Thanh, table tennis player Nguyen Anh Tu, taekwondo athlete Ho Thi Kim Ngan, runner Le Tu Chinh and canoer Truong Thi Phuong.

The “Best Coach of the Year” title went to Nguyen Thi Nhung (shooting), Dang Anh Tuan (swimming), Hoang Anh Tuan (football), Truong Tuan Hien (gymnastics) and Nguyen Le Ba Quang (fencing).

The five Best Athletes with Disabilities of 2016 are Le Van Cong, Dang Thi Linh Phuong and Nguyen Binh An (powerlifting), Vo Thanh Tung (swimming) and Cao Ngoc Hung (athletics).

The three best coaches of athletes with disabilities were Nguyen Hong Phuc (powerlifting), Dong Quoc Cuong (swimming) and Dang Van Phuc (athletics).

At the ceremony, the organising board also presented the Prime Minister’s certificates of merit to Vietnam’s futsal team as well as the U19 national men’s football team and the team’s coach, Hoang Anh Tuan.
