Nghinh Ong festival 2017 in Vam Lang

On the morning of April 6,  Nghinh Ong festival has just been solemnly held at Vam Lang town. This is the largest festival of fishermen organized once a year in the fishing village when the fishing season begins.

The festival took place with many traditional rituals such as the rites of Ong worshipping, procession of Ong on sea by a big decorated boat with flag and flowers, bustling with drums and gongs.

After the rituals are folk games such as pushing rods, tug of war, shinning up tree smeared fat, boat racing, duck catching,etc ... are organized to meet the entertaiment needs of local people.

The festival has attracted thousands of locals and many visitors. Nghinh Ong festival aims to honour the solidarity of fishermen at sea in fishing.
