Accordingly, three male referees, including Nguyen Hien Triet, Pham Manh Long and Nguyen Trung Hau, and a female referee, Truong Thi Le Trinh, have won the FIFA recognition at the Elite assistant referee and fourth official levels.

Regarding referee Nguyen Hien Triet, he will be further tested by FIFA (through capability testing or officiating in a real match) in order to be recognised as an Elite referee. If he meets the Elite Referee standard, Triet will be allowed to officiate in international matches under the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

By being recognised at the Elite assistant referee level, Vietnamese referees will be able to officiate in football matches in the role of the AFC’s assistant referee and fourth official in 2018.

In addition, the FIFA also considered and recognised 14 other Vietnamese referees and assistant referees who are eligible to work in the country’s 2018 football season.
