National Music Festival launched in An Giang

ABO/NDO- The National Music Festival, phase I of 2023, was kicked off in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on June 3, attracting the participation of 23 groups of Vietnamese musicians and singers, from 20 provinces and cities across the country.

The event was jointly held by the Vietnam Musicians’ Association in collaboration with An Giang province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major General, musician Nguyen Duc Trinh, chairman of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association said the festival will be a venue to share experiences in composing and a music exchange among musicians. Thereby, the event will also introduce new works, young faces, and beautiful voices, the decisive factors for today and future professional activities.

Nearly 60 musical works will participate in the festival that focuses on the themes of the Party, Uncle Ho, Uncle Ton, the Fatherland, the national sea and islands, national achievements, and the land and people of An Giang.

A talk show entitled “The art of using folk music in contemporary composition” will be included in the festival, to honour the unique identity of folk and traditional music of ethnic groups in Vietnam.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on the evening of June 4 and broadcast live on An Giang TV and radio channels.
