PM attends int'l exhibition on Smart Industry World 2017

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the fourth industrial revolution (4.0) presents the opportunity for the country to realise its dream of prosperity when addressing an international exhibition on Smart Industry World 2017 in Hanoi on December 5.

The PM underlined the guiding viewpoint of the Government that focuses on building and developing the digital economy and smart industry, regarding this as a crucial task to restructure the economy and shift growth model toward increasing productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness.

The Government will invest in modernising the national information infrastructure system and connectivity while developing smart industry based on digital technology to create a breakthrough in growth quality and turn Vietnam into a global centre of software industry and services of information security and safety, he said.

The PM set the target of one million digital technicians by 2020, stressing that to achieve the goal, contents related to the 4.0 revolution should be included in general education, vocational training, and tertiary education while innovation and start-up culture must be nurtured.

In such context, the PM said the Smart Industry World 2017 is an important event for participants to share experience in applying cutting edge technologies, developing smart industry, and recognising opportunities and challenges from the fourth industrial revolution.

The Smart Industry World 2017, which combines an international exhibition and four workshops, drew nearly 50 domestic and foreign enterprises operating in automation, robot, smart industry, agriculture, health care, education, fintech, and software.

More than 1,500 delegates from State-run management agencies, domestic and foreign business associations, and embassies were also present at the event.

The exhibition featured 50 pavilions showcased by leading manufacturers, industrial and technological businesses from Vietnam, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, the US, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.

The symposiums in the framework of the event will explore new technological measures and propose specific policies for the Government to develop smart industry in manufacturing, trade, services and smart urban areas.
