The establishment of the national park, which is home to 90 species of plants and 58 species of precious and rare animals, also aims to preserve the cultural values, natural landscape, and ecological environment.

The project is also designed to recover natural forests and tree plantations with a target of increasing the forest coverage to 95% by 2030, from 84% in 2016.

The Phia Oac – Phia Den National Park encompasses a total natural area of more than 10,590 hectares, spreading across Thanh Cong, Quang Thanh, Phan Thanh, and Hung Dao communes, and Tinh Tuc town.

The park is designated to improve water retention, prevent floods and soil erosion, ensure environmental security, and stablise the lives and production of the residents in the downstream areas.

Under the project, actions will be taken to raise public awareness of environmental protection and biological diversity, and to develop eco-tourism and improve the socio-economic status in the area.
