To strengthen measures to prevent drowning children in Tien Giang province

ABO - the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee (PPC) has just organized workshop to prevent drowning children in Tien Giang province on April 26. Deputy Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Duc chaired this workshop.

Presentations at the workshop concentrated on measures to prevent drowning children in the past time and proposed more effective solutions in the coming time, experiences in implementing and solutions on a universal swimming project to prevent drowning children. In addition, delegates also proposed a socialization project for aquaculture to provide swimming universal swimming for students at all levels; A model for building mobile pools in areas with drowning risk to help children to develop swimming skills.

According to a report by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), the death toll from drowning in Vietnam is the highest in the region, eight times higher than in developed countries. As for Tien Giang province, from 2010 to 2015, there were 90 cases of children drowning and early in 2018 to date, two cases of children drowning.

Deputy Chairman of the PPC Tran Thanh Duc stressed that drowning has been a pressing issue in society. Avoiding drowning requires effort and involvement of departments, unions, families and schools. This workshop is an important basis for the sectors and levels to plan and develop the plan in a concrete and unified way to find effective solutions to prevent drowning in children in Tien Giang province. In particular, it is necessary to focus on infrastructure investment and the construction of a swimming pool depending on the actual conditions of each locality.
