Activities mark Vietnam Science and Technology Day

ABO/NDO - A number of activities have been held to mark the Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18).

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMNAP) hosted a ceremony in Hanoi on May 16 to celebrate the Day, with the attendance of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, and Director of the HCMNAP.

The event aims to honour the contribution of generations of scientists in the cause of the theoretical work and scientific research of the Party, as well as creating unity in the awareness of the task of renewal and the improvement of the quality of scientific activities.

On the occasion, the Academy announced and handed over the decision to appoint an associate professor title to 24 lectures in 2018.

On the same day, the National Agency for Science and Technology Information under the Ministry of Science and Technology opened the technology and information technology equipment market (IT Techmart 2018).

The three-day event is expected to offer trade opportunities for businesses, institutes, schools, science and technology organisations, and individuals. IT Techmart 2018 will provide many benefits for research and investment promotion activities, and promote the development of new products within Vietnam.

A symposium on information technology (IT) amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) took place in Hanoi on May 16, looking into the features, opportunities and challenges of Industry 4.0 and the development directions for the IT sector in Vietnam.

Also on May 16, the Thua Thien - Hue Association of Science and Technology organised a ceremony to celebrate the Vietnam Science and Technology Day.

17 outstanding individuals who have made outstanding contribution to the province's science and technology development were honoured at the ceremony.
