Vietnamese students shine at International Physics Olympiad

ABO/NDO - The five members of the Vietnamese team won three gold medals and two silver medals at the International Physics Olympiad which recently concluded in Israel.

The information was released on July 14 by the Education Quality Assurance Department under the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET).

The three gold medals were won by Tran Xuan Tung from Hanoi - Amsterdam Gifted High School; Nguyen Xuan Ung from the National High School for Gifted Students,Hanoi University of Science; and Nguyen Khanh Linh from Lam Son High School for the Gifted, Thanh Hoa province.

Meanwhile, two silver medallists were Le Viet Hoang from Bien Hoa High School, Ha Nam province, and Trinh Duy Hieu from Bac Giang Gifted High School, Bac Giang province.

Gold medallist Nguyen Khanh Linh also recieved a special award for the girl with the highest Olympic achievement.

Vietnam came fourth at the contest, after China, the Republic of Korea and Russia.

The 50th International Physics Olympiad was held in Israel from July 7-15, with the participation of 360 students from 78 countries and territories.

The MoET will give the Vietnamese team a warm welcome at Noi Bai international airport upon their return on July 16.
