African swine cholera appeared in Tien Giang province from June 1, 2019 and so far the province has nearly 3,650 households, in 104 communes, of 10 districts, towns and cities where pigs are infected with epidemic. There were 86,115 infected pigs with a total weight of more than 5,820 tons destroyed. The most concerned issue is that there is no vaccine available while the disease is continuing to develop complicatedly, spreading widely, causing serious consequences, causing heavy losses by disease.

At the workshop, participants discussed the causes and transmission routes of African swine cholera in order to find effective prevention measures. In particular, experts analyzed in depth the characteristics of African swine cholera virus, biosafety measures in and out of farms, instructing farmers to use properly biological products, antiseptics, etc... to limit the infection of African swine cholera.

On this occasion, the scientists also confirmed that African swine cholera epidemic is not transmitted to humans and wants consumers to be calm and not boycotting pork products that meet biosecurity standards.
