Winners of Vietnam Environmental Awards announced

ABO/NDO – The winners of the 2020 Vietnam Environmental Awards and the fifth Press Awards on Environment were announced at an award ceremony held by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Hanoi on December 26.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha said that the two awards are noble titles presented by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to organisations, individuals, communities and journalists with excellent achievements in communication activities, helping to raise public awareness on the environment and contributing to the cause of environmental protection and sustainable socio-economic development.

For the 2020 Vietnam Environment Awards, the ministry received 230 entries from 166 organisations, 63 individuals and a community in the fields of education, training, communication, consultation, and supervising the implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection. The jury selected 34 winners to present with the 2020 Vietnam Environment Awards.
Meanwhile, the 5th Press Awards on Environment attracted nearly 500 works from 347 participating authors in four types of journalism, including printed newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio, and television. The press works focused on environmental protection issues and climate change response in the country.
The organisers awarded four A prizes, 12 B prizes, 20 C prizes and two prizes to two press agencies with large numbers of participating works. Nhan Dan Newspaper won two prizes – one A Prize for the article "The problem of plastic waste" in the printed newspaper category by the group of authors: Hoang Thuy Ha, Vuong Trung Tuyen, Quach Thu Hien, Nguyen Van Ninh, Phan Thi Thanh Quy, along with one C Prize in the television category for the "Sa Pa and hydroelectricity issue" by the group of authors: Trung Hieu, Ngoc Tuan, Huyen Anh and Nguyen Thuy.
