The statement was made by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a ceremony, held in Hanoi on August 28, to announce the 2017 Vietnam Golden Book of Creativity and launch the emulation movement ‘Solidarity and creativity to improve the productivity, quality and efficiency of international integration’.

Addressing the ceremony, PM Phuc expressed his appreciation for the initiative to publish the 2017 Vietnam Golden Book of Creativity, honouring 72 outstanding research projects and creative solutions in the field of science and technology, as well as the launch of the emulation movement.

He affirmed that the Party and State pay great attention to promoting innovation and creativity, particularly in the development of science and technology. In addition, the Government always strives to create the most favourable conditions for scientists to promote their talents and creativity.

The PM expressed his delight at seeing that the projects in the book cover many fields prioritised by the Party and State, including agriculture, health, infrastructure development, renewable energy, climate change adaptation, defence and security.

The Government leader asked the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), the state management agencies in science and technology, and others across all levels, to continue implementing the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies related to sci-tech development as well as focus on developing human resources.

On the basis of the Government's major directions for socio-economic development, the ministries, central agencies and the People’s Committees in the provinces and cities should closely coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels to respond to and promote the ‘Solidarity and creativity’ emulation movement, contributing to fulfilling all of their socio-economic tasks, he added.

The PM also urged the relevant agencies to review and complete institutions and policies to encourage sectors, scientists, enterprises and people from all strata to take advantage of the fourth industrial revolution, creating highly applied products and ideas to increase labour productivity and improve the quality and competitiveness of products.
