Party always favours youth to study and sacrifice: General Secretary

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has emphasised the Youth Union as a right-hand force of the Party and a key force of the nation, whilst affirming that the Party always creates all favourable conditions for the younger generations to study and sacrifice.

The Party chief made the statement at a November 8 meeting with 60 exemplary army youth delegates who represent 450 delegates attending the ongoing ninth Congress of the Army Youth Union in Hanoi.

On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and Central Military Commission, General Secretary Trong praised the significant achievements obtained by the Army youth, which he said, have joined the whole army and people to successfully realise the Resolution of the 11th and 12th National Party Congresses, thus deserving the affection and trust from the Party, State and people.

He stated that the emulation movements of the Army youth have experienced extensive and comprehensive developments which have brought about practical results.

Especially, the movements, “Army youth reaching peaks” and “Army youth entering the field of science and technology”, have been implemented extensively, contributing to encouraging youth union organisations and young people in the whole Army to exert themselves in studying, training, combat readiness, scientific research, production, the protection of national territorial sovereignty and the maintenance of political stability and social order and safety, the Party leader said.

In order to boost the development of the Army’s youth union work, he asked the Army youth to closely follow the goals and tasks of the revolution and the Army, so as to organise the successful implementation of youth union movements, and develop the Army’s youth union members to really represent the will, intellectual and quality of Vietnamese young people in the Ho Chi Minh’s era.

General Secretary Trong encouraged the Army youth to exert continuous efforts to fulfill all the assignments, stressing that one of the key tasks for youth union members is to study and improve the educational, professional and expertise levels, in service of the people, the fatherland and the Party.

At the meeting, delegates from military zones and army corps reported to the General Secretary on the situation of youth union work and youth movements within their units over the past few years, as well as the results that have been achieved.
