Urgent measures demanded to improve efficiency of anti-corruption

The Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for Internal Affairs should focus on researching and proposing urgent measures in order to further improve the efficiency of corruption prevention and control in all localities.

The statement was made by the Politburo member, standing member of the PCC’s Secretariat and head of the PCC’s Inspection Commission Tran Quoc Vuong at a conference held by the PCC’s Commission for Internal Affairs to review its performance in 2017 and devise tasks for 2018, in Hanoi on January 18.

The event also saw the presence of Politburo members: Pham Minh Chinh, the PCC’s Secretary and head of the PCC’s Organisation Commission; Nguyen Van Binh, the PCC’s Secretary and head of the PCC’s Economic Commission; and Nguyen Thien Nhan, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City municipal Party Committee.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong asked the PCC’s Commission for Internal Affairs to continue to firmly grasp the country’s situation in order to timely institutionalise the guidelines related to internal affairs and corruption prevention and control.

The agencies concerned should accelerate the investigation, prosecution and trial of serious and complicated corruption and economic cases, added the Politburo member.

He also urged the commission to enhance their inspection and auditing activities, particularly in sensitive fields, as well as to map out effective solutions to deal with instances of petty corruption.
