The event was attended by former President Truong Tan Sang and Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh.

Addressing the event, Permanent Deputy PM Binh emphasised that former soldiers have not only made great contributions and sacrificed their lives to national liberation and reunification, but also contributed to the cause of national construction and defence today.

He also noted that the Party and State always pay a great degree of attention to the care of revolutionary contributors, particularly formerly imprisoned soldiers.

On the occasion of Lunar New Year (Tet), the Permanent Deputy PM extended his warm greetings to the soldiers and wished them good health and longevity.

He also expressed his hope that they would continue to contribute to the Party's revolutionary cause and the country’s development.
