NA Standing Committee convenes 42nd session

ABO/NDO – The National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) convened its 42th meeting in Hanoi on February 10 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Addressing the session, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said the NASC greatly appreciated the Government’s efforts as well as the sense of responsibility and drastic, prompt actions and precautions taken against the acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus (nCoV) over the past days.

She affirmed that the committee stands ready to accompany the Government and the entire political system in the fight against nCoV, while keeping a close watch on the developments of any epidemic, including A-H5N1 avian influenza, and take any countermeasures necessary to minimise losses caused by the diseases.

Also according to the top legislator, during the 42nd session, the NASC will discuss the contentious contents of the draft law amending and supplementing some articles of the Law on Settlement of Administrative Violations, and the draft law amending and supplementing some articles of the Law on Organisation of the National Assembly.

The deputies will also look into the issuance of a decree guiding the implementation of the temporary admission mechanism under the terms of the Istanbul Convention, she stated.

The NA Chairwoman added that other issues to be discussed at the session include the preparations for Vietnam’s ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Chairmanship 2020 and the rearrangement of administrative units at communal and district levels in six centrally-run cities and provinces.
