PM asks for full implementation of non-stop toll collection

ABO/NDO - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired a meeting of permanent government members in Hanoi on March 16 to discuss measures to remove obstacles in the second phase implementation of automated non-stop toll collection on all build-operation-transfer (BOT) highways across the country.

The implementation of automated non-stop toll collection was a major task of the Government, the PM said, adding that in the past time, the PM has frequently requested and directed the Ministry of Transport and related units to implement this task.

However, according to the report of the Ministry of Transport, the process remained slow, failing to meet requirements.

The Government leader underscored that in order to soon apply automated non-stop toll collection nationwide and create favourable conditions for drivers as well as ensure transparency in toll collection, the Ministry of Transport and People’s Committees of localities must promptly take measures to speed up automated toll collection following the National Assembly Standing Committee’s resolution and the Prime Minister’s decision and directive on the issue.
