To urgently implement a solution to save vegetables and crops, Chairman of the PPC urged

ABO - On April 7, Chairman of Tien Giang People’s Committee (PPC) Le Van Huong and Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development checked the damage of vegetables and crops due to salinity, drought in Chau Thanh district.

According to report of Chau Thanh district, the whole district now has about 250 hectares of vegetables affected by drought and lack of irrigation water, which is estimated 70% or more, including the most serious damage as Nhi Binh commune, Tam Hiep, Thanh Phu commune and Tan Ly Dong commune.

The survey result showed that there are 10 hectares of vegetables which was damaged 100% in Tan Lap hamlet, Tan Ly Dong commune. In Tam Hiep commune, there are also nearly 600 hectares of vegetables which are in the period of lack of irrigation water to nearly die. In Long Dinh commune, there are also 10 hectares of vegetables affected by the drought.

Through the survey, Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong requested leader of Chau Thanh district People's Committee to urgently concentrate all resources to pump fresh water to rescue vegetables. Specifically, in Khang Chien canal of Tam Hiep commune, there are nearly 600 hectares of vegetables in a period of water shortage that can be saved.
