Preparations for national election comply with provisions of law

ABO/NDO – Thorough preparations for the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for 2021-2026 have been carried out across the nation.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee has announced that the Presidium of the VFF Central Committee and the VFF chapters of provinces and cities nationwide have organised the third consultation conference, to take from April 14 to 18, to select and make a list of qualified candidates running for the elections.
From the results of the three rounds of negotiation, up to now, there are 153 people from the VFF to be nominated for the 15th NA, reaching 17.48%. The localities have made a list of 665 qualified candidates for the 15th NA, of which 656 people were nominated for candidacy and nine self-nominated.

The Standing Committee of the VFF Central Committee have received the list of qualified candidates for provincial People's Council candidates in all 63 provinces and cities. Accordingly, the total number of candidates for the election of the provincial People's Councils after the third consultation conference is 6,220, while the total number of delegates elected by law is 3,714. Regarding self-candidates, 63/63 provinces and cities reported 17 self-nominated candidates for provincial People's Councils.
In the coming time, the Standing Committee of the VFF Front Central Committee requests the VFF chapters at all levels to be responsible for coordinating with the Election Commissions and the People's Committees of the same level to organise the election campaigns in accordance with regulations, especially, it is necessary to coordinate with the local authorities to develop plans to organise meetings between candidates and voters so that candidates can exercise their right to election campaigns and preside over meetings with voters according to the plans of the Election Commissions at the same level.
* The Ha Tinh Provincial VFF Committee said that it had just held a meeting with local candidates nominated for the elections, in which local leaders suggested the concerned units and localities to well implement the election campaigning and the preparations for the national election in combination with COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
* In Tra Xuan Town, Tra Bong District, the Quang Ngai Provincial Youth Union has organised a festival to help young voters better understand their rights at the upcoming elections.
* The VFF Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province has set a plan to let the local candidates meet and present their action plans to local voters from May 4 to 17.
* The Nghe An Provincial Election Committee has announced that the National Election Commission has approved a proposal from the Provincial Election Committee to allow 207 early voting booths to operate in four mountainous districts of Ky Son, Con Cuong , Que Phong and Tuong Duong.
Due to the difficulty of local people in travelling to the polling venues, the early voting has been recommended to facilitate the election work in these areas.
The total number of voting venues for the whole province is 3,416, of which 207 early voting precincts will be held on May 21 (two days before the scheduled national election day), accounting for 6.05% of the total.
