Speaking at a conference on April 25, the deputy PM urged the forces to continue their close cooperation in implementing key plans to combat crime identified by the government, such as fighting drug smuggling along the Vietnam-China and Vietnam-Laos borders.

He also asked them to make plans for tackling human trafficking and goods smuggling across borders.

Deputy PM Binh said in future Vietnam’s national security would be affected by continued complex developments in the region and the world, notably non-conventional and transnational crime, with a greater degree of severity.

He emphasised that crime seemed to be increasing in border and marine areas, especially drug offences, human trafficking and environmental crime.

At the conference, the deputy PM stated that the forces should step up cooperation in exercising their duties and enhance the capacity of their officers in order to ensure order and security in border areas and the entire country.
