Tien Giang ranks 7th in southern Vietnam for dengue fever

According to Deputy Director of Tien Giang Preventive Medicine Center Le Dang Ngan, the situation of dengue fever in the province has been still complicated due to the presence of all 3 types of Denguue and dominance D1 type accounted for more than 83 percent.

Indicators of mosquito density, transmission tolls are still high, especially in the early months of 2017 when the weather changed abnormally accompanied by hot temperatures to create favorable conditions for the development of mosquitoes, larval transmission of dengue fever. Therefore, the outbreak of dengue fever in the dry season is unpredictable and difficult to forecast accurately.

According to Tien Giang Preventive Medicine, the dengue cases in the province in first quarter  of the year  is 523 dengue cases, an decrease of over 10.3 percent in comparison with the same period last year. However, the number of cases has recently started to increase and Tien Giang is the province with high number of infected Dengue fever ranked 7th in the southern provinces.

According to the health agency, many large rainfalls in this time are favorable for development of mosquito. The dengue fever is into season and complex progress. This year is considered the year that Tien Giang predicts of an outbreak due to the cycle of epidemic disease, the change of tupe denge, the changeable weather. Therefore, every family needs to proactively prevent dengue by cleaning environment, killing mosquito and mosquito larva.

Tien Giang health sector continues to implement prevention of dengue fever and mobilize community to organize and maintain the campaign to kill mosquito larva in the province, to tackle many outbreaks in areas with risk as indicated epidemiology, to further inspection activities, supervision and support at all levels, especially the high number of infected communes and the risk of an outbreak, etc...
