Supporting lower-level hospital in treating dengue fever

The Hanoi-based Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases should improve the efficiency of dengue fever examination and treatment, regularly update, exchange experiences and transfer new techniques in dengue fever examination and treatment to lower-level hospitals, especially in regards to the process of classifying patients.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the statement while working with the Hanoi-based Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases under Ministry of Health on August 21.

Since the beginning of this year, the hospital has examined, treated more than 17, 000 patients. The number of hospitalized dengue fever patients is 2,903, in which more than 300 people were moved up from the lower-level hospitals.

According to the Deputy PM, the number of dengue-infected patients has decreased, in recent days. However, the leader asked all-level authorities nationwide to continue to mobilise all available resources in dengue fever prevention and control in order to achieve the highest effectiveness.

On the same day, according to Nguyen Van Thiep, Director of Preventive Medicine Centre of Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province, facing the situation of dengue fever in Hai Binh commune, in Hai Binh commune, the officials and employees of the commune medical station sprayed mosquito-killing chemicals for 961 families in five villages. In addition, they also sprayed mosquito-killing chemical 4,100 square metres of market, medical station, Hai Binh commune’s office and over 100 classrooms of three schools in the commune. The authorities of Hai Binh Commune mobilized resources in environmental sanitation campaign.

* According to the report of Binh Thuan provincial Preventive Medicine Centre, since the beginning of 2017, the province has 1,083 cases of dengue fever (down 81 cases compared to the same period in 2016). Against the complicated evolution of dengue fever, Binh Thuan's health sector has implemented synchronous solutions to control dengue fever such as launching large-scale spraying of mosquito-killing chemicals and launching environmental sanitation campaign along with promoting knowledge on disease prevention.
