Tien Giang responds to the National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2017

At the end of November 2017, Chau Thanh district had 402 cases of HIV infection, of which there were 37 cases in Than Cuu Nghia commune, 30 cases in Tan Ly Tan commune. The majority of HIV infected cases was in the working age. According to statistics from the health sector, up to now, there are 206 cases changed to AIDS and 123 cases died.

* In Go Cong town, since the first HIV cases were detected in 1995, there were 189 HIV-infected people in the end of November 2017. The number of AIDS cases was 82, of whom 51 died. In the month of National Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2017, Go Cong town organized the propaganda on HIV/AIDS prevention in the community and mobilized HIV-infected people to perform safe behavior and early access to HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services.

According to the Department for HIV/AIDS prevention under the Ministry of Health, around 10,000 new cases of HIV infections discovered in the country annually.

The UN 90-90-90 Goals mean that by 2020, 90 percent of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status, 90 percent of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral (ARV) therapy while 90 percent of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression.
