Early on the morning of December 26, after entering the southern sea of Ca Mau province, Tembin continued to weaken. At 7am this morning, the centre of the low pressure was in the waters offshore of Ca Mau province, with its strongest wind speed of 40kph.

It is forecast that in the next 24 hours, the low pressure zone will move mainly westwards, weakening and melting. This is the latest news on Typhoon Tembin, the 16th storm to affect Vietnam this year.

The low pressure system is forecast to bring heavy rains along the coast from Binh Dinh to Phu Yen, posing a risk of flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, due to the effect of a cold spell combined with wind from the north, from now until the end of December 28, the central provinces will suffer moderate rains.

Vietnam Airlines and several other carriers have cancelled or adjusted the schedule of many of their flights to and from areas affected by typhoon Tembin.

The national flag carrier cancelled all flights from 12:40 to 20:30 on December 25 on the routes between Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc in the southern province of Kien Giang, and between Hanoi and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho. Passengers affected by the cancellations will be arranged to fly on the next day.

Meanwhile, the schedule of flights from 15:00 to 23:00 on December 25 were also adjusted according to the latest reports on Tembin, and will be updated frequently on Vietnam Airlines’ website and Facebook.

VASCO also cancelled 16 flights between HCM City and Con Dao from 8:45 to 15:00 on December 25.

Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air cancelled some flights on Hanoi-Can Tho, Hanoi- Phu Quoc, Da Nang-Can Tho-Hanoi and HCM City-Phu Quoc routes on December 25.
