Traffic Safety Year 2018 launched

On January 29, the Tien Giang provincial Traffic Safety Committee held a meeting and march for the Traffic Safety Year 2018 with the theme "Traffic Safty for children" in the spirit of "Human life is first".

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, the rate of traffic accidents in children remains high compared to the world and regional average. Especially in big cities, traffic accidents involved children and traffic accident victims as children have a tend to increase in the period 2011 – 2016 so the National Traffic Safety Committee has proposed to choose the theme of the year 2018 as "Traffic Safety for children".

The National Traffic Safety Committee has established the Traffic Safety Year 2018, themed “Traffic safety for children” with the aim of reducing from 5-10% of the numbers of traffic accidents, deaths and injuries compared to 2017.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee Le Van Huong, Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial Traffic Safety Committee requested that the agencies, committees, branches and mass organizations at all levels raise their responsibilities in directing and managing traffic safety from provincial to district levels, commune level to positively change in the reduction of traffic accidents in the province, especially traffic accidents involved children.

On this occasion, the the Tien Giang provincial Traffic Safety Committee presented 50 helmets for students and organized the march through the roads in My Tho city.
