Tien Giang province launches the campaign to clear of water hyacinth

ABO - On June 26, the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee (PPC) held a conference to evaluate and deploy the launching of clearing of water hyacinth in rivers and canals in the province.

According to statistics, the total volume of water hyacinth in Tien Giang province is over 9,270,000 m2. From 2015 to 2017, the volume of clearing of water hyacinth through the sluice gates and at point at Go Cong project estimated 4,288,000 m2, at the Bao Dinh project estimated 1.665.000m2 with investment funds as VND 855 million. However, at present, the water hyacinth situation in the project area is very fast, with over 7,100,000 m2 concentrated on the Salisette canal, canal 14, Tran Van Dong canal, Son Qui-Lang Nua canal belongs to Go Cong project. The rapid development of water hyacinth is an obstacle to water traffic, especially the need to transport goods among the people.

The conference received many ideas and suggestions on the solution of functional branches, unions and local authorities, and unified the time to organize the campaign to clear obstacles in the river, canals and canals on July 7 and 8, 2018.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong suggested that the Tien Giang province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development needs to complete the specific plan with the regulations. Departments and local authorities need to step up their cooperation with the Tien Giang the Irrigation Management Company to get information and work plan for the project, to arrange the reasonable time, to ensure the time of completion of work and at the same time widely to propagate among people to create the response to the clearing of water hyacinth on these channels.
