The programme also intends to enhance the constitution, stature and intellect of the Vietnamese people while fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG2) that Vietnam has committed to the United Nations.

The Government has set a specific target that households will have enough food to ensure the nutrition needs throughout the year by 2025, while the rate of malnutrition among children under two years old will be reduced to less than 20%.

The programme also aims to develop a sustainable food system, under which 100% of participating households will join cooperatives and production associations while a majority of small farmer households will increase their productivity and income.

At the same time, necessary policies will be completed to support pregnant women and children in accessing nutrition services and to improve the quality of monitoring and warning systems for nutritional risks.

The programme also intends to develop the capacity for forecasting, alerting, and mitigating natural disasters in addition to developing a sustainable food supply and consumption system.
