With flood water forecasts this year was higher than many years ago, the western districts of the Tien Giang province promptly upgraded 71 dyke embankments with the length of nearly 130,000 meters, completing 133 essential dams and reinforcing 119 flood prevention and flood control tents.

In addition, the Cai Be district, Cai Lay district and Tan Phuoc district have about 25,600 hectares of un-harvested summer rice. Local authorities urged people to harvest rice fields and prepare pumps for slashing and flooding if the flood unexpectedly happened.

In addition, the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee requested the districts to quickly complete the reinforcement of the dikes to cover about 70,200 hectares of fruit trees because of some degraded dikes failed to ensure high levels of flood water this year.
