Up to this point, in Vietnam, there are seven provinces and cities having pigs infected with African swine cholera and disease trends tend to spread from the North, Central to the South, through pig transport and products with pork ingredients. Meanwhile, Tien Giang province is the province with the largest number of pigs in the Mekong Delta with about 600,000 pigs, 32 slaughtering and quarantine establishments exporting out of the province with about 1,000 pigs/day and night and especially the National Highway 1A through five districts, so that the risk of spreading African swine cholera is very high.

In this situation, the Tien Giang province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development urged localities to urgently implement solutions to respond to African cholera epidemic, focusing on solutions such as information wide spread of epidemics among people, close monitoring of slaughtering processes at establishments, quarantine at pig collecting establishments, organizing disinfection of breeding environment, inspecting the undertaking implementation of restaurants about not using pork of unknown origin.
