Chairman of the PPC welcomes new Japanese Consul General

On the afternoon of April 25, Chairman of Tien Giang provincial People's Committee provincial People's Committee Le Van Huong welcomed Kawaue Jinuchi, the new Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, as part of his ongoing visit to Tien Giang province.

At the meeting, leader of Tien Giang province introduced an overview of the economic situation of the society, the potential and advantages of Tien Giang as well as many fields which were attracting and calling for investment. Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Le Van Huong stressed that the province welcomes the consul general's visit and hopes that he will be the bridge for long and deep cooperation between Japanese organizations and businesses.

The Consul General Kawaue Junichi expressed his sincere thanks to Tien Giang province's leaders for their hospitality and kindness, especially the interest and support for Japanese workers and businesses working in the province.

As reported, Tien Giang and Japan have had good relationships in many fields. Tien Giang's export turnover to Japan reached over USD 150 million in 2016 with the main products being rice, seafood, vegetables, textiles and handicrafts. Tien Giang enterprises mainly imported raw materials for sewing, leather shoes and plant protection products, etc… from Japan. Currently, Tien Giang has five direct investment projects of Japan with a total registered capital of 36 million USD. Tien Giang is also the province receiving many projects of JICA. In addition, Japan is also a large labor export market of the province with over 800 employees. Tien Giang Health College has a nursing training program in Japan and Tien Giang University has cooperated with Japanese partners in training.

After working with the Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, the Consul General Kawaue Junichi visited Tien Giang University.
