Situated near the Schiphol International Airport in the capital Amsterdam, Aalsmeer town, with an area of over 32 square kilometres, is the site of some 60% of the flower trade in the world, up to nearly 50 million flowers each day.

Apart from flowers planted in the Netherlands, flowers from European, central American or African countries are transported to the town by air and are auctioned at 7 a.m everyday, before being further transported to customers across the world.

Focusing on investment in agriculture, especially hi-tech agriculture, the Netherlands helps farmers gain greater values from traditional products.

In addition, the Netherlands exports technologies in agriculture, bringing high economic value. Each year, the Netherlands’ agriculture earns EUR50 billion, accounting for 10% of GDP, while only 2% of the labour force work in the agricultural sector.

Impressed by the strength of the Netherlands’ agriculture, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung expressed his hope that Vietnam and the Netherlands will set up close and deep cooperation to increase Vietnamese agricultural products’ values and bring greater income for farmers.

On the same day, the Deputy Prime Minister visited and talked with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands, as well as representatives from the Vietnamese community in the Netherlands.
