Rice exports to Philippines sharply increase

In the first half of this year, Viet Nam’s rice exports to the Philippines doubled in term of both volume and value in comparison with the same period last year.

Viet Nam earned nearly US$310 million from exporting 687.150 tons of rice to the Philippines, up 134.1% in volume and up 135.9% in value against the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the nation shipped 606,000 tons of rice, worth US$278 million in July, bringing the total rice export turnover to 3.86 million tons in the first half, gaining US$1.75 billion.

China remains Viet Nam's largest rice importer with 39.11% of the total export figure, followed by the Philippines, Ghana and Singapore.

The price of Vietnamese rice rose by 2.4% to US$452 per ton.
