Cashew nut exports enjoy rises in both volume and value

Export cashew nut volume in August reached an estimated 28,000 tonnes, valued at USD185 million, bringing the figures for the first eight months this year to 188,000 tonnes, worth USD1.27 billion, up 13.9% in volume and 15% in value year on year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Average cashew nut prices during Jan-Jul reached USD6,438 a tonne, a year-on-year rise of 1.4%. The US, China and the Netherlands continued to be the largest import markets of Vietnamse cashew with market shares of 31.55%, 15.69% and 11.54%, respectively.

The Ministry also reported that the country imported 71,000 tonnes of cashew nuts in August, worth USD73 million. These brought the volume over the past eight months to 406,000 tonnes, valued at USD418 million, down 3% in volume but up 4.5% in value compared to the same period last year.
