Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Nguyen Van Hieu, said the implementation of ODA projects, especially those funded by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) and the World Bank (WB), was on the right track.
In order to achieve such positive outcomes, the ministry worked with the WB to examine slowly-disbursed projects, and join hands with Japanese partners to put forth measures against negative factors like corruption while implementing ODA transport projects.
During the reviewed period, major ODA projects were struck, including Japan’s Economic Management Competitiveness Credit (EMCC) and the WB’s Road Asset Management Project, worth US$147.6 million and US$251.7 million, respectively.
However, gaps in the disbursement of capital between sectors and localities still exist, mainly in the fields of transportation, power, energy and climate change.
The Vietnamese Government has been actively pursuing the disbursement of ODA, with ministries, relevant sectors and localities pledging to work harder in the near future to help businesses overcome difficulties in effectively utilising the capital.
