Unseasonable white dragon fruit fetches high prices

Unseasonable white dragon fruit in Tien Giang province fetches high prices. The prices reachs VND24,000-25,000 a kilogram of best dragon fruits, normal kind fetches VND14,000-15,000.

In Tien Giang province, the country's largest grower of dragon fruits, farmers have over the last two months used light bulbs to stimulate blossoming of the dragon fruit during the off-season.

Dragon fruit has been identified as one of seven special fruit which has a competitive advantage and invested continually to improve the quality and position in market.

Tien Giang province has over 4,200 hectares planted dragon  fruit. Apart from the Cho Gao “capital of dragon fruit” with 4,400 hectares, there are some areas planted dragon fruit in Chau Thanh district (50 hectares), Tan Phuoc district (80 hectares), Go Cong region…
